We all know that once a conversation starts in the blogosphere, it cannot be controlled. Never has this been more true than with the recent Channel 4 film "The Great Global Warming Swindle". The conversation has been more heated than the planet. And the saddest aspect is the number of bloggers who are reporting it as the BBC's film.
In many cases, they're using the BBC name to give their posts more clout. Whatever we think of the BBC's credibility here in the UK, it's still highly respected elsewhere. The idea that it should be against the new global warming religion is headline news indeed.
But the bloggers are wrong. And they're feeding off each other.
Where does that leave the casual enquirer? Totally misinformed.
Everyone, especially children, needs to be warned not to take blog postings at face value.
I agree with both of your statements. But I had in mind those untrained or inexperienced in critical thinking.

Everyone needs to be warned not to take anything at face value! :-)
It's like those US colleges banning their students' use of Wikipedia. What ever happened to critical thinking, and isn't that exactly what those colleges should be teaching?
