Anyone who reads this blog will know that I occasionally get really mad about Seth Godin. In fact, I once said I'd never mention him again. I think that's when he'd wound me up in a blog post and I couldn't add a comment.
Anyway, young Mr Macleod - that's Hugh, of gapingvoid - has recently blogged an email interview with Mr Godin. I found myself coming away from it feeling much more benign towards the man. Hugh asks ten questions and gets ten thoughtful answers.
Here's a snippet that amused me:
Look, there are 8 million millionaires in the USA. Why do these people go to work every day? Why not downsize appropriately and just sit on the beach? Because they're too smart. They realize that the purpose of living isn't to bake in the sun until you die.
I'm on holiday right now and I've met some people who think that this is exactly what life is all about. I'm tempted to cut this quote out of my computer screen and show them. But I won't.
Thanks Hugh.
